Katie thinks Buffy can tell her these stories all the time, okay. They're great, and the idea that Buffy is a vampire slayer and out there doing all this heroic stuff (and going to be married to an awesome pirate someday, shh, that's what Katie thinks) means Katie holds her in a lot of awe and ...she may find she has a shadow one night on patrol, actually.
Aside from the awe, though, Buffy doesn't treat her like a little kid, makes delicious milkshakes, and is important to Jack, so Buffy's fast becoming someone that Katie really likes to see. Buffy's certainly important enough to her that, even wtih losing half of her memory to dying, she still managed to place who the woman was, even if Katie was a little hazy on some of the details.
