Stuck In The Wrong Place

Same Old People, Wrong Destination

Today you get a message from the Malnosso. They’ve found a way to send you home. You’ll remember Luceti, but it’s a one way trip. You’ve said your tearful goodbyes and prepared yourself for the inevitable return home. One moment you’re in Luceti, the next you’re not.

But nobody ever said the Malnosso ever got everything right. Sure, you’re not in Luceti anymore. Yes, you’ve lost your wings and barcode. But this isn’t your world. It’s some other world and now that you’re cut off from the Malnosso, you have no hope of ever getting back home. Which means that wherever you’ve ended up, you’ll be spending the rest of your life there.

On the up-side, you’re not the only one stuck here. Someone else from Luceti, also alien to this world, is stuck with you. With the common bond of being strangers to this brave new world, it’s inevitable you’ll stick together. But for how long?

Considerations

1. You can go to any other world you want! It just can’t be one either of your characters are from. You can make up something like a fantasy world, something from a sci fi, or something just like the modern world. Or you can pick a canon neither of your characters belong to.
2. Ideally they should both be from different canons altogether. But this isn’t required!
3. There’s supposed to be no way back. Even genius characters ought to find it impossible. But does that mean all hope has to be lost? For those who have been gone from Luceti a long time, it might be fun if they were given a chance to go back to Luceti and be trapped again.
4. For an optional extra level of complexity, give consideration to your character’s appearance or to their abilities. Will they stand out in this new world? Will they have to hide what they can do? Or will they even be able to use their powers if the source of their powers is gone?

Prompts

1. Day One - You’ve both just arrived on this world and by chance, you run into each other. Two heads are better than one. Now you just have to figure out what to do next.

2. One Week Later - You’ve been in this world a week. Things are starting to sink in. So is the idea of being stuck here. It’s time to start thinking about the long term.

3. One Month Later - Now that you’ve both been here awhile, you’ve learned the ins and outs of your new home. You’re making a living and getting by, but you still think of home.

4. Six Months Later - It may not be home, but you’ve learned to be comfortable. By now, your relationship with your fellow Lucetian has certainly evolved as well.

5. One Year Later - It’s been long enough that you sometimes wonder if you ever did live in a place like Luceti. So what’s life for you like in this whole new world?

6. Other - Don’t be limited by the above. This could be two weeks later or twenty years later! Of course, you can always time skip once you’ve established what you want to do at one time period.

[Have fun getting stuck anywhere with this guy.]

Kingdom Hearts, One Week In

[And where else, Traverse Town. ...Seriously, it's still flooring her that the total space of this entire world doesn't seem to be that much bigger than the Luceti village and almost certainly smaller than the whole enclosure. The perpetual sort-of-night also is sort of offputting.

Fortunately, this town is used to refugees, and a lot of them are more weird than her and Leon. So finding a place to stay wasn't that hard. Really, the more pressing problem is that already--]

I'm so bored!

[She whined, with her face resting down on their new table]
fellpool: (Exasperated; whatever you think bro)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-01-02 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Just one week. One week, and they had already walked around the entire town, seen all its sights, and found themselves with no quick and easy way to leave. Of course there had been that moment of dread, that period of panic -- and then there was the longer time spent thinking that this was all just another Malnosso experiment and they would find themselves right back where they had been for the last few years.

Leon was slowly departing that hopeful period, with Haruhi as his only company. There was only so much a person could take.

He looks up from his magazine, ears flattening against his head as he watches Haruhi. They'd gotten a small place together out of convenience and an attempt to save up some munny.]

Can't do much about that, you know.
godbent: (You have no idea how much)

[personal profile] godbent 2013-01-03 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I know that! [She snapped, he head looking up and generally just putting off an air of childish frustration, which is so much easier than giving in to the dread in the pit of her stomach] But you'd think some weird refugee world that people from all over everywhere end up in would be more interesting, but no! Even though I've seen ninja and talking dogs and other stuff here, it's still boring.
fellpool: (Lean back and listen)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-01-08 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe there just haven't been as many refugees lately. [He sighs, scratching the back of his neck as he slowly refocuses on the magazine he had been reading. Basic gummi ship parts seemed reasonably priced, but a ship required so many...] Or they ran into the same problem of this place being boring and jumped worlds as fast as possible.
godbent: (Holt It-!)

[personal profile] godbent 2013-01-10 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Probably that second one! Gummi ships aren't that expensive, right? I mean, we've got enough munny for a bunch of parts already, based on what I've seen.
fellpool: (Head-scratching; looking frustrated)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-02-02 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they're pretty reasonably priced. [You know, considering they're building ships here.] It shouldn't take us that much longer to get enough munny together to leave. Then it's a matter of ... you know, figuring out where to go.

[But there had to be something nearby if people were leaving quickly, right?]
godbent: (Angel Beats's finale sucked)

[personal profile] godbent 2013-02-09 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
No one I've talked to has a map, but I do know a bunch of worlds now. ...I guess a lot of them got eaten though.
fellpool: (You've got to be kidding)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-02-24 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess we'll have to figure out a map when we leave, then. At least we'll have Traverse Town as a landmark.

...Unless these worlds more haphazardly. Then we're kinda screwed. [Oh, pessimism. The best friend to have when you're stuck in a different world. He flips to another page, reaching for a pen so he can circle a part that would be needed.]
godbent: (Objection-!)

[personal profile] godbent 2013-03-06 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
There's got to be some sort of layout. After all, people told me that all the stars in the sky are worlds here, so if they mean that literally, that means that the constellations are layouts of worlds instead of layouts of stars in this universe.

[Which... is weird. But whatever]
fellpool: (Default)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-03-06 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That'll be interesting to see in action. [Very weird, especially as someone who's been between planets and such before.]

But I guess that means good boosters will be a priority. Unless we really want to be spending days traveling between worlds.
godbent: (Holt It-!)

[personal profile] godbent 2013-03-08 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
What about food stores?
fellpool: (Tapping my chin; thoughtful expression)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-03-08 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Shouldn't be too much of a problem, unless you'll get sick of granola bars and water. [He turns a page.] We could get an icebox too, if we feel we need something like that. But non-perishables would be better until we find out more about what other worlds are out there.

[There's a pause as he considers something.] Do you think we'll stick out too much, wherever we go? [He hadn't gotten that much attention with his cat ears, but maybe Haruhi had gleaned something talking to other people from this world.]
godbent: (Mysterique Sign)

[personal profile] godbent 2013-03-10 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. There's more variety in this town than there is in Luceti. I saw someone who looked like a humanoid bulldog the other day.

[...But then, this is a refugee town. It's hardly a showing for a homogeous world]
fellpool: (Disinterest; I don't care about that)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-03-12 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
...Must've missed that one. [He frowns a little, hoping there was no natural dislike of cats in that humanoid bulldog.] I guess I'll just look into finding some hoods or something.
godbent: (Editor in Chief ★ Straight Ahead!)

[personal profile] godbent 2013-03-13 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I can get those. You just focus on the ship for now.

[A beat, and then she sighs, leaning back in her chair]

...This is still weird.
fellpool: (Default)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-03-17 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Worlds within worlds, traveled to in a ship that looks like expensive Lego blocks. I don't think it'll stop being weird for awhile. [Another circle goes around another a gummi ship part.] I dunno, though -- it's not a bad weird.
godbent: (Boundless Sky)

[personal profile] godbent 2013-03-20 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not necessarily a bad kind, no. But it's also weird that we both didn't end up back on Earth. ...Our Earths, I guess. [Sigh]
fellpool: (Head-scratching; looking frustrated)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-03-21 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
...Yeah. [He finds himself distracted from his magazine by the mentioning of them not returning to their respective home worlds. Leaving Luceti had not been a difficult decision, with so many others willing to take the leap as well. There had always been a risk of something going wrong -- as proven by the experiment that had led to many people being "re-anchored" to other worlds.

In a way, this was another re-anchoring. But without any obvious way to reverse its effects, with the Malnosso no longer contactable.

It was still too early to think that there was no way back, though.]

We're just making the best out of an awkward situation, right now.
godbent: (The Dissociation)

[personal profile] godbent 2013-03-22 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
That was an anti-climactic solution anyway. [She says this through persed lips. She doesn't have too much to do right now other than complain. But seriously, the Malnosso found the solution and sent everyone? She didn't even volunteer, they just pulled her in. She's not sure if Leon knows that or not. It's nice to have the memories and the age, but...]
fellpool: (Head-scratching)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-04-04 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Leon did not know that Haruhi had not volunteered to the test; the time between the announcement and the actual testing had been very short, and the thrall of it all had made talking about it with friends uncomfortable.

Even now, it was weird to think and talk about.]

...Anyway. When are you supposed to get paid next? May payday is in another two days.
godbent: (Get out forever)

[personal profile] godbent 2013-04-08 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to be paid in three days. [she kicks he legs here a little, looking up at the ceiling. ] I'm surprised we got jobs so quick.
fellpool: (Exasperated; whatever you think bro)

[personal profile] fellpool 2013-04-09 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
If people leave here as often as it seems, part-time jobs are probably vacated ridiculously quickly around here. [Kinda like Luceti, but he wasn't going to make that comparison aloud.] It's almost like the whole economy is built on getting people to leave -- you get a job to buy gummi ship parts, they get more gummi ship parts for the next batch of people who arrive.
