Same Old People, Wrong Destination

Today you get a message from the Malnosso. They’ve found a way to send you home. You’ll remember Luceti, but it’s a one way trip. You’ve said your tearful goodbyes and prepared yourself for the inevitable return home. One moment you’re in Luceti, the next you’re not.

But nobody ever said the Malnosso ever got everything right. Sure, you’re not in Luceti anymore. Yes, you’ve lost your wings and barcode. But this isn’t your world. It’s some other world and now that you’re cut off from the Malnosso, you have no hope of ever getting back home. Which means that wherever you’ve ended up, you’ll be spending the rest of your life there.

On the up-side, you’re not the only one stuck here. Someone else from Luceti, also alien to this world, is stuck with you. With the common bond of being strangers to this brave new world, it’s inevitable you’ll stick together. But for how long?

Considerations

1. You can go to any other world you want! It just can’t be one either of your characters are from. You can make up something like a fantasy world, something from a sci fi, or something just like the modern world. Or you can pick a canon neither of your characters belong to.
2. Ideally they should both be from different canons altogether. But this isn’t required!
3. There’s supposed to be no way back. Even genius characters ought to find it impossible. But does that mean all hope has to be lost? For those who have been gone from Luceti a long time, it might be fun if they were given a chance to go back to Luceti and be trapped again.
4. For an optional extra level of complexity, give consideration to your character’s appearance or to their abilities. Will they stand out in this new world? Will they have to hide what they can do? Or will they even be able to use their powers if the source of their powers is gone?


Prompts

1. Day One - You’ve both just arrived on this world and by chance, you run into each other. Two heads are better than one. Now you just have to figure out what to do next.

2. One Week Later - You’ve been in this world a week. Things are starting to sink in. So is the idea of being stuck here. It’s time to start thinking about the long term.

3. One Month Later - Now that you’ve both been here awhile, you’ve learned the ins and outs of your new home. You’re making a living and getting by, but you still think of home.

4. Six Months Later - It may not be home, but you’ve learned to be comfortable. By now, your relationship with your fellow Lucetian has certainly evolved as well.

5. One Year Later - It’s been long enough that you sometimes wonder if you ever did live in a place like Luceti. So what’s life for you like in this whole new world?

6. Other - Don’t be limited by the above. This could be two weeks later or twenty years later! Of course, you can always time skip once you’ve established what you want to do at one time period.

[Shikamaru signals for radio silence. Not that he needs to, it's pretty much routine by this stage though dinosaurs usually don't get so close without either of them noticing.]

[Okay,he looks over the edge now. He is quiet, to keep them both safe. He can't make out anything yet, but while their actual high hide position is safe, he can't help but feel the forest is full of danger, like they're in some sort of like. Feeding ground]

[Even when the view is obstructed like now, there's never any shortage with sounds here. Shikamaru's been cataloging the various dinosaur calls since they got here, but when the hooting starts below, he doesn't recognize it. There's definitely more than one; his guess would be three.]

That sounds small. [Whatever it is]

Doesn't mean anything.

[In testament to that, there's some loud crunching sounds again. Something down there weighs a lot.

After several minutes:]

They're lingering too...

Maybe they're eating?

[There is undergrowth down there. But that would probably be too hopeful at this point]

Directly under the cage?

[He pulls back from looking over the side to sit back down against a wall of the high hide, bothered by why it's so familiar.

Then it clicks.]

Reminds me of Akamaru.

[generalflirt]

How's that? [tilting his head to the side, looking curiously at his compatriot]

[endgames]

It's... Well I guess a snake would be a better comparison.

[Raising his thumb he flicks his nose, indicating not the feature but the sense of smell itself.]

They catch wind of something, they hang around.

[generalflirt]

So basically, you stink.

[endgames]

[He rolls his eyes.]

Think about it. How many other humans have we seen here?

I think I've seen some bones which looked human.

[endgames]

[He's purposefully avoiding the simple answer in a way that tells Shikamaru that he gets it. And not only that, he gets it a little too well.

Shikamaru gives his friend a frustrated, pained look, before turning his head back to listen to the scene below again.]

...we're going to have to leave here now, one way or the other.

[generalflirt]

How do you figure? [They can wait them out, right? But he suspects shikamaru's worked out some other reasoning]

The longer they play predator down there, the sooner they're going to become someone else's prey. Then we'll just have something bigger on top of us.

[generalflirt]

...Touche. Okay, I'm agreeing now.

[endgames]

[Now just to come up with a plan. He closes his eyes and thinks.]

I'll send a clone to distract them, and get some intel. We'll go the opposite direction, so we need to decide where we're going to go from here. We can follow the river, or go further inland in hopes of finding supplies, and maybe answers.

[generalflirt]

Wouldn't going towards the shore be better, in case there's boats or planes or whatever?

[endgames]

[That was the plan behind following the river, yes.]

At best, I think we'll find an abandoned boat. At worst, we could be followed and have little cover. We need to account for both possibilities.

[generalflirt]

[We're going to die on this island, aren't we]

Alright, let's do it.

[endgames]

[Shikamaru nods, then sits up again to look out one of the slots serving as their window, eyes scanning. He points.]

If we follow that line of trees, that route will be optimal. We'll have cover, but the foliage isn't so sparse as to obstruct our view. I don't see anything big that way right now either. You following?

[generalflirt]

--Ar you talking ground floor or tree jumping, because I'm not confident in the later.

[endgames]

Ground. [Masaomi said he was having a hard time with chakra, so...] Not taking chances.

[They'll still want things to hide behind/climb up if they run into trouble though.]

[generalflirt]

Roger. [Okay, solemn nod. He's ready and primed]

[endgames]

[Good. He nods and brings his hands together in a hand seal typically seen from Naruto, as opposed to the common twelve he taught Masaomi.

...then holds it.]

Get ready to drop.

[It takes a bit - a lot - to concentrate his chakra enough to form the clone, but eventually it shows up in the cage beside them, making it even more cramped. The clone looks over to Masaomi, grim.

"Give me something of yours."]
