Maiza is pretty much the perfect waifu housemate, being the type of personality Layton gets along with best. Though Layton doesn't consider Maiza as close to him as Luke (it would be pretty tough to beat Luke, let's be real), having a fellow adult to talk to is a relief. What he can't confide in Luke, he confides in Maiza. He finds Maiza to be trustworthy, dependable, and pleasant, and it doesn't get much better than that. The man could stand to like puzzles a little more, but that's okay. It's a work in progress.

If he had to be honest, he was a little concerned when Maiza told him he was a camorrista. He has had Bad Experience with mafia-type thugs in the past. While he doesn't hold anything against gangsters themselves, it's hard for him to see gangs in a positive light. He knows that Maiza as a person would never want to harm him or Luke, but he can't help but wonder what Maiza would do if, for some unlikely reason, Layton and the Camorra were at odds. He won't ever ask if he can help it, not wanting to put his friend in that position, but the question is there. Hopefully it will go unanswered, and he'll do anything to keep it that way.

STILL. He knows Maiza is a good guy and good friend and accepts him for who he is. He just finds his choice in profession curious. Very, very curious.
