In Cross's eyes, Pils is the girl that constantly needs help. Not that that bothers him. He's always willing to give it in return for some well needed praise. However, he doesn't view her solely on the principle of her helplessness or a praise vendor. He can see that she is kind and caring and while stubborn to accept help, freely gives it to others. In a sense, Cross sort of admires those qualities in her because they seem genuine. She's a good person not out of necessity, but just general good will.
