For someone raised by two sisters, having Ayumu around is like having one of them nearby. It's reassuring, in a way, to have that comforting female presence close at hand, especially to him who never really knew any family other than his sisters. He's also glad that being here gives her a chance at a real life, one mostly free of her other responsibilities. It's just unfortunate that Susumu is no longer here because Souji always had hoped they would make up and learn to be siblings together. That said, Ayumu seems happy with Homura and that is also reassuring. They somewhat balance each other out and since Okita trusts that Ayumu can handle herself, he doesn't worry about their relationship much. He's simply happy that she's trying to find her own happiness here, and his mind is put at ease knowing that she'll be taken care of.
