Oh god oh god. /puts on her tl;dr helmet. IS YOUR BODY READY, EMMA?
BEFORE that V-Day experiment, Sanji appreciated Noel as Nami's best friend, and also someone he cared about. She's dorky and a bit of a failure, yes, but underneath is a very competent fighter and loving friend who needs to believe in herself more. Her being a clone means nothing to him, because she'll always be Noel.
... AFTER the V-Day experiment... lmfao frankly? Sanji is not sure what to do. Does he love Noel? Oh god yes. Is he in love with her? Oh god no. No, he's not, but feelings are not so straightforward that Sanji waltzed out of the experiment with no scars. Because when I say he loves Noel... I do mean it. He loves her, but more importantly, he also loves the concept of being in love with her - because he was happy and she was happy and they made a good couple. They balanced each other out fairly well. It felt real then, for experimental reasons, but what concerns him is it still feels like it could be real. Nothing fundamentally changed about them; their relationship just grew deeper and sweeter, in some ways.
It's an experience Sanji went through before, with Ginko. It worked between the two of them, but then both of them went home. And a month later, Sanji came back to a broken relationship. Unfortunately, Noel reminds him of all that; she right now encompasses the ideas of love, being in love, and then losing it because Luceti sucks.
Sanji? Does not want to experience that again if he can help it, but there's no denying how much closer he feels to Noel because of what happened. He can't make himself shovel in distance between them because she's his friend, and he loves her. He's just... wary of that love growing into something deeper. And disastrous.
BASICALLY! HE'S AFRAID OF FALLING IN LOVE WITH HER.
Also congrats: if he ever sees Noel naked for some unfortunate reason, he'll die of blood loss. She's officially more potent than Nami. GJ, BB.

Oh. God. Where do I even start with this? 8| These two went from being derpy derp derps to COMPLICATED LOVE MESS in a span of a week.
Before the V-Day experiment, Sanji was definitely the person Noel was closest to in the crew second only to Nami. |D He's not only a great friend, but also a very competent boss. Honestly, she's glad she decided to approach him about working for him! Even after the whole Mu fiasco, and despite the horrid pangs of guilt she felt in the aftermath, the fact that he accepted her with open arms touched her more than she could have expressed during that time. Though easily flustered, she's able to handle his flirting a bit better than she used to, and the both of them can be wonderfully horrible derps together FOREVER!!!
...but that was before the V-Day experiment. B| And now? Now? Well...
Noel... sadly enough, the fact that she's been mallynapped since the very end of the experiment makes the situation worse than it already is. No real communication with others, no concept of time, drugged up on whatever it is they give you, and whatever else that happens when held up in a facility-- When she's able to hold some form of consciousness, and sometimes maybe in her dreams, Sanji is on her mind. It's only an experiment, maybe, but the feelings and memories she experienced during that week felt too real. She was happy with him. She was in love with him. Deeply in love. It's silly now: How could she ever love Sanji like that? And yet still... the fake memories and the false feelings are like a brand, and she finds herself... well.
Noel doesn't quite know. Or she does know, but she doesn't want to admit it, because there was a certain shame about what had happened that week. And maybe... after all that, Sanji probably wouldn't want to speak of it or to her again. And hey, that is the easier route, technically, but something about it stings.
Deep down, yes, she thinks she loves him. More than a friend. Maybe. And like Sanji himself, she's terrified of it escalating into something far worse.
And to top it all off?
