There are not enough words to describe her affection for you, Smoker. At first it was just a simple matter of hitting on the tsuntsun because she adores the tsuntsuns. It helps that he's gruff, handsome, tall, and flirting with him had the feeling of flirting with danger since she was squarely on the villain's side at the time and he was very much on the Justice side. Over time, she realized how much of a grey zone his Justice tended to slide into and how much fun it was to be around him.

He makes her oddly happy, happy enough to settle into Luceti and to want to behave which is a big thing for her. It helps that they line up on so many fronts and that he doesn't seem to care that her body and her self don't exactly match up. It also helps that while he does get jealous and prickly when she flirts, he doesn't flip the table at her either. Not that she'd mind either, but it's nice to know that he trusts her. Of everyone in Luceti besides Will, who is her canonmate, Smoker is probably the only person Grell would move the world to keep safe. If it meant killing everything to make sure he stayed, she'd do it. Getting a taste of having him with her in her own world just strengthened that because she got a glimpse of what it would have been like to be, well, satisfied with life beyond work. She doesn't feel like she has to hide anything from him and she's generally just really happy with him. She won't be the first to declare love because, in the end, he is mortal and she will outlive him, but for as long as they have, Grell wants to stay with him.
