BUT OKAY OKAY I JUST HAD TO THINK BECAUSE IT'D BE TL;DR

So. Asch is probably one of the most important people to Luke in Luceti, and in Auldrant too. There are Reasons, but not even Luke can't really pinpoint them all. All he knows is that Asch is his original, and he knows what all he's been through because of his birth, and he wants to do what he can to make sure that the rest of his life can be better, even with him in it.

But there are reasons beyond that, too. Asch is genuinely Luke's friend, and he does a lot for his friends. He wants to make sure they're happy, that circumstances don't drag them down. Though that doesn't quite get them out of the way from being teased, like him pushing his hair back in that one entry. Though he does tone it down with Asch, knowing how much he doesn't like things like that.

There's also the fact that Asch is his original. Without Asch, Luke could never exist, so he isn't sure what would happen if Asch ever left, whether it meant dying or just being brought back home (which is also dying but HE DOESN'T KNOW OKAY). Yes, he'd like to be the only Luke, he'd rather not have Asch take over his life despite him wanting it to happen (yes it's weird). But he still feels almost like, if Asch went away... then he wouldn't know what to do with himself. What right does he have to live when the thing that allowed him to live, not just from being born, but all those times he spared him and saved his life, is gone now? Why does he have more right to be here than he does? He's just a replica and all. Asch deserves it more than he does.

That doesn't mean Asch makes him unhappy or anything, far from it. Sure, they have their fights, and sure, Asch calls him names. But at this point it's more like a pet name than anything, and Luke knows he doesn't really mean it. And it's always weird when he actually calls him "Luke". Asch has let him sleep on him, read to him and vice versa, played the piano for him, just. A lot of thing, and they all created happy memories. Considering how important Asch was to him before he got to Luceti, this just makes him all the more important, and even more like a friend to Luke.

He knows that Asch hates being alone more than anything, despite him seeking it out a lot. And that's why he's promised to not leave him; sure, they're apart now. But that promise means he'll never stop being his friend, he'll never betray him or leave him, and if Asch finds himself lost, Luke will go to the ends of the earth to find him. All this time in Luceti has made Asch a very, very important piece of Luke's life, and not even Guy's arrival can drive that away from him.

Which, speaking of that, that situation does distress Luke quite a bit. He loves both boys and all, and he feels a bit like he's caught in the middle. Still, he's doing his best to work around it by meeting Asch when he can, hopefully with Guy not around. In fact, this makes him want to visit Asch even more, considering he knows how it was with Guy last time he was here. What with their fight (sort of, he mostly guesses), and the relationship they used to have (especially that), and everything... He can only imagine, and imagining is painful. He hates that Asch has to go through that now, so, as his replica and as his friend, and as someone who promised to be there, he wants to... well, be there. At the same time, he knows what Guy's feeling, too, and it's not like you can make hatred go away with a snap of the fingers. Living with Asch proved that for Luke. So yes, caught in the middle and all.

TL;DR LET HIM LOVE YOU ASCH oh wait he already does whether Asch likes it or not
