Just a quick little ditty of a meme to break up all the other plotty stuff going on. :) (Stolen and slightly modified from Vatheon!)

10 Things for 10 People

→ Post with your character ICly saying ten different things to ten different people.

→ Or eight things to eight people, or five things to five people. There's no hard or fast limit.

→ You can say things your character wants to say, things your character refuses to say, thoughts or beliefs about other people, secrets...

→ But you can't say who those people are! No naming names.

→ (Example: "I've always liked you, but I can't tell you that.")

→ React to everyone ICly. Make guesses or reassure or whatever. And have fun!

But it didn't make any more sense than it did before.

[This hesitation is a lot longer. Because that's so much of it, even a decade later. Why it was so important. Why it couldn't wait till they were ashore and there were willing women. And if it wasn't important, what did that say about the man? What did that say about mankind? What did it say about Midshipman Kennedy, lying in ruins because of nothing important? How unimportant must he be?]

Dunno if it ever makes sense. Perhaps I'll tell you if I find out. But...the more times I said it, the more it became...part of the past, I suppose. Like a story I was telling, and you can't tell a story that hasn't already happened.

[ and perhaps that's buffy's problem. thanks to spike not staying dead and thanks to him waltzing in and out of the village whenever the dimensional elevator saw fit to send him, the story could never be part of the past.

If you get to write the chapters, you also get to choose which one comes last. You choose what ends it. That's...that's compelling stuff.

I think that might be it. I...don't know precisely when those years--not only Simpson, but Ferrol as well--when they weren't any longer the most important of my life. Sometimes they still are. I can't sleep in the dark. But...looking back, I don't believe it really began to happen till I told Horatio. And I knew there was one person in all the world I could trust with anything. [He has gone very train-of-thought, saying whatever comes to mind.] It made for one place in all the world that was...safe.
