Here -- [ and because this is a magical land of memedom, buffy produces a little candy from the seemingly thin air. ] See?

Apparently the candy heart was an acceptable confirmation, even as Jack took it and ate it.

She found a second candy, but...! Instead of reading it or offering it up for his edification, she tossed it straight at his face. A game of catch, really. The candy-catch of affection.

"See? Almost everything's better when it's edible."

"Well I can't READ your loving from-the-heart MESSAGES if you're bouncing them off me nose, sweetness!"

Jack groped around on the ground, trying to find the missing heart.

The candy -- a little worse for wear and now likely sporting a bit of dirt -- screamed an all-caps and all-nineties message of BEEP ME.

Reminiscent of her finger-made heart, Buffy now outlined a small box's shape with her hands. "A beeper. It...beeps. When someone--"

She laughed. "A roughly your-period accurate translation might be something along the lines of...'letter me'? Not, y'know..."

A waggled brow. Not, y'know, whatever you just assumed.
