The Daily Life Meme

THE DAILY LIFE MEME

GREETINGS LUCETIANS. Long ago, on a distant server, Kyio once unleashed a pleasant meme. But then it's been over a year and yeah, we need to do it again. It's sort of like an info survey.

Well it's back, with new questions! And thanks to Dreamwidth's generous comment character count, these might even fit into a single comment! It's a 33 question survey/meme about your characters and their experiences and developments in Luceti. It'll give you a better idea of where your characters are at and let other people get a good sense of what your character is like and up to. It can make for interesting stuff, really.

Feel free to respond to each other's tags with IC or OOC responses, questions, or what have you. Have fun!

1) Height:

Around 5'5" - about the same height as Katara. He's already grown between the end of Book 3 and The Promise, but a look at the Korra intro shows he still has some growing left to do.

2) Weight:

About 90 lbs.

3) Eye color/Hair Color:

His eyes are hazel. Hair color is brown but usually shaved bald.

4) Age:

He is currently 14. Technically 114 due to his time spent frozen.

5) Physical features:

Aside from being bald, he has his tattoos on his body. Each tattoo is a blue arrow that goes along a chakra path on his body. The most notable is the one that starts at the base of his spine on his back and goes up over his head to his forehead pointing down. His other tattoos are on the backs of his arms (going up to the back of his hands) and going down his legs to his feet. Aang also has two scars from when he was killed by Azula, although they're not normally visible; one is in the middle of his back along his tattoo's path, and the other is on the bottom of his left foot.

6) Voice:

This. His voice could go through some changes as he ages, depending on how Adult Aang sounds.

7) Who do they live with and how are chores divided in their house/apartment?:

Aang currently lives with Sokka, Katara, Zuko and Suki. Aang most likely helps with cleaning around the house, sometimes cheating with Airbending. He should also be the one in charge of mediating minor squabbles.

8) Their favorite (and least favorite, if you want) foods and who does the cooking in their house/apartment?:

Aang's a vegetarian, and he loves stir fried dishes. One of his favorite treats is also an egg custard tart. Katara pretty much always does the cooking.

9) What they do during an average day in Luceti:

Initially, Aang's confusion led him to spend most of his time either hanging around Avatar House or doing stuff by himself, such as wandering around. He has slowly become more social, especially after the first experiment. His mornings include Firebending sessions with Zuko, and then he goes to school on weekdays. Aang also spends a lot of his free time meditating (especially when his friends are busy) and often checks the item shop just to see if there are any bison-shaped whistles. Aang keeps pretty prudent hours; he's usually early to bed and early to rise. He is also in the process of adding more to his schedule (such as possibly training with tonfas and/or the Kyoshi Warriors as well as more Waterbending practice with Katara).

10) Their general sense of fashion:

Aang isn't a very fashionable person. He prefers to wear his simple monkish get-ups most of the time (primarily his outfit from The Promise). For special occasions, it's better for others to pick out his wardrobe.

11) Do they have any hobbies? Did they come up with these hobbies in Luceti, or was it something they always did?:

One of Aang's favorite hobbies has always been riding different types of animals. However, Luceti has offered him pretty much nothing in that regard. Meditation and bending practice might also count, but they're more disciplines. Also he's been trying to add more pranks, which he did only in a limited extent back home, to help lighten things at Luceti.

12) Has the situation in Luceti changed their view on certain topics/the way they react to different things?:

Aang's had to adjust to the fact that even though there are evil people around, it could be worse to go after and try to stop them. He's had to struggle with how powerless he feels and how imbalanced the world seems. There's also the potential for more growth regarding his opinion on the colony issue back home, and he's also had to adjust to new romantic difficulties. His leftover memories from the AU experiment have also helped him to look at things in a more complex way.

13) Do they have a weapon? If so, do they carry it at all times or just under certain circumstances?:

His main accessory is not necessarily a weapon. It is a staff that can turn into a glider. It was not built for combat and so is fairly impractical as a weapon, instead being used to amplify his Airbending. He has been learning to use it in a more weapon-like manner, in case of emergencies. At the same time, he has also been trying out tonfas and has been thinking of trying out Kyoshi fans.

14) Who are their neighbors?:

The closest houses are Houses 51 (Valvalis and Neliel) and 52 (Mithos and Martel). He hasn't really met any of them yet, although he has talked with Neliel over the journals. He would likely greet them if he ever ran into them outside. They're also near Community House 5, where Robin lives.

15) Who are their best friends in Luceti? How often do they spend time with them and doing what?

The people he lives with, who are his closest people from back home. Katara is his dearest friend, and they talk on a regular basis in addition to sometimes practicing Waterbending. She's mainly shown him around Luceti, although the amount of time spent together as well as the depths of their conversations have been a bit of a variable especially after that experiment started to cause awkward shifts in their relationship. Sokka is someone whom he usually jokes around with, but Aang has been growing more dependent on his wisdom due to him being pretty much the senior Luceti guy. He has gone to Sokka for advice on weapons and sometimes visits him at the smithy. Zuko has had a bit of awkwardness due to the events back home (which Zuko is still unaware of), but Aang's been able to put that aside to rekindle their original friendship. Aside from smalltalk, Aang likes to have Zuko make him tea, and they practice Firebending together. Then there is Suki, who he is not as close to as the others but talks to regularly, and he has been considering practicing with the Kyoshi Warriors. Out of the new friends he has made so far, some of the closest have been Winry (who is his pranking partner and the only person he's spilled his romantic life to) and Shikamaru (who is his Pai-Sho partner). And Robin is someone he wishes he was still close to.

16) Their favorite areas/stores/hang-out locations?:

Aang mostly likes nice, tranquil, nature-y areas, although there are a lot of spots around the village he hasn't checked out yet.

17) Wing color and how do they deal with their wings?:

His wings are orange and in the center (where the wings meet his back) a yellow sphere is formed. Aang likes his wings and thinks they're pretty cool, and he has been thinking of ways his wings and his Airbending can help each other. He usually displays both of his wings through his clothes.

18) Did they change or grow in any way physically since coming to Luceti?:

He's only been here for just over a month, so nothing yet. A growth spurt is definitely possible at some point in the future.

19) What do they miss the most from home?:

His closeness with Katara, but he still appreciates what he has here. He has also been increasingly missing Appa, his lifelong animal companion.

20) What does their handwriting look like? Do they write the way they talk, or is there a clear difference between the two?:

His handwriting's a bit sloppy, but he's been trying to improve. He writes partially similar to how he talks, but his thoughts are more organized.

21) Is the way they act in person different from the way they act over the journal system?:

Not so much. He acts as friendly and welcoming in either context.

22) Did they gain/lose any personal goals during their stay in Luceti?:

He already achieved his main goal of saving the world back home, and otherwise his personal goals have become trickier. He has managed to restore peace with Zuko, but only in a kind of cheating way due to Zuko being from a time before difficulties arose. With Katara, he did achieve his personal goal of dating her back home, but now she's also from before that time, so Aang has been constantly mulling over what goal he should be striving for in that area within Luceti.

23) Is Luceti a technological upgrade, or downgrade for them? Have they adapted to these changes well?:

It's been a definite upgrade. At first he could barely comprehend anything, but he has been getting better. Memories from his life as Robin have definitely helped him to understand more "modern" things.

24) FOR STUDENTS: What is their favorite class? What is their least favorite class? What about their general behavior in school?:

His favorite class is world sharing, because culture is Aang's real favorite food. His least favorite class would probably be science, which he often has trouble getting his head around. In class, he usually tries to be courteous and respectful, but he does have streaks of mischief and trying to talk/pass notes to friends. It doesn't help that he likes to fight boredom with laughter, although he is quick to repent when called out by a teacher.

25) FOR DRINKERS: What is their favorite drink? What is their least favorite drink? Do they prefer Good Spirits or Cloud Nine? What's their attitude about and while drinking?:

N/A.

26) Do they have any special talents? If so, what are they?:

Avatar stuff. He can bend all four of the elements (earth, fire, water and wind). There's also the Avatar State (which is only accessible in extreme circumstances) and energy-bending (which is something he is intent on never using again).

27) Have they learned any new skills or abilities in Luceti? If so, what are they? Why and how?

After the experiment, Aang has learned the importance of learning how to use alternatives to his bending in the instance that he could lose it. He has been looking into types of weapons to start learning, and he has also started befriending the spirits, starting with Kipinn, to learn the magic that could both amplify and act as an alternative to his bending. Sokka and Katara have been helping him with each respective one.

28) What kind of habits do they have on drafts? Are they willing to kill or do they prefer to avoid fighting?

He has not yet been on a draft. He has accepted that this world could require him to be looser with his code of non-violence, but he is never willing to kill. Instead, he hopes to incapacitate or just avoid the battle if necessary (as long as this does not endanger others).

29) What kind of habits do they have on missions? What is their reason for going on them? What do they intend to use their points for?

This is not yet applicable, but one reason would probably be to make sure that another person doesn't have to go in his stead.

30) How long have they been in Luceti? Has that length of time impacted them in any way?:

He's been here for little more than a month. He has mostly settled in, but he's still learning more about the place. Aang's mostly accepted the state of affairs here, but he is still hoping to find some way to change this world for the better and get everyone back home. As said above, he has felt increasingly powerless about the control the Malnosso have over them all.

31) How do they unwind and get back to normal after a brutal experiment, event, or draft?

Aang's best antidote is time with his friends, especially Katara. The normalcy of his friends for back-home can help him to try not to think about any scarring recent events. Aang has already had to do a lot of stuff like this back home, learning to smile and act normal with his friends after traumatic events like learning of the air nomads genocide.

32) What is their worst experience from an experiment or kidnapping? Were there any that they actually liked?

There has only been one experiment, which has been particularly traumatic, when he thought he was the second Robin. In this life, he did get a sense of traditional familial bonds through his relationships with Batman, Alfred and the first Robin. However, it was closer to a crapsack life, and Aang has considered it to be a mostly horrible experience due to the way that life clashed with most of his Air Nomad principles, as well as the toll that his difference had on Katara. And Katara being an error only added more grief to that experience. It doesn't help that Robin quickly rejected their friendship once they were back to normal.

33) Anything else you want to note?:

He's just a simple monk.
