Same Old People, Wrong Destination

Today you get a message from the Malnosso. They’ve found a way to send you home. You’ll remember Luceti, but it’s a one way trip. You’ve said your tearful goodbyes and prepared yourself for the inevitable return home. One moment you’re in Luceti, the next you’re not.

But nobody ever said the Malnosso ever got everything right. Sure, you’re not in Luceti anymore. Yes, you’ve lost your wings and barcode. But this isn’t your world. It’s some other world and now that you’re cut off from the Malnosso, you have no hope of ever getting back home. Which means that wherever you’ve ended up, you’ll be spending the rest of your life there.

On the up-side, you’re not the only one stuck here. Someone else from Luceti, also alien to this world, is stuck with you. With the common bond of being strangers to this brave new world, it’s inevitable you’ll stick together. But for how long?

Considerations

1. You can go to any other world you want! It just can’t be one either of your characters are from. You can make up something like a fantasy world, something from a sci fi, or something just like the modern world. Or you can pick a canon neither of your characters belong to.
2. Ideally they should both be from different canons altogether. But this isn’t required!
3. There’s supposed to be no way back. Even genius characters ought to find it impossible. But does that mean all hope has to be lost? For those who have been gone from Luceti a long time, it might be fun if they were given a chance to go back to Luceti and be trapped again.
4. For an optional extra level of complexity, give consideration to your character’s appearance or to their abilities. Will they stand out in this new world? Will they have to hide what they can do? Or will they even be able to use their powers if the source of their powers is gone?

1. Day One - You’ve both just arrived on this world and by chance, you run into each other. Two heads are better than one. Now you just have to figure out what to do next.

2. One Week Later - You’ve been in this world a week. Things are starting to sink in. So is the idea of being stuck here. It’s time to start thinking about the long term.

3. One Month Later - Now that you’ve both been here awhile, you’ve learned the ins and outs of your new home. You’re making a living and getting by, but you still think of home.

4. Six Months Later - It may not be home, but you’ve learned to be comfortable. By now, your relationship with your fellow Lucetian has certainly evolved as well.

5. One Year Later - It’s been long enough that you sometimes wonder if you ever did live in a place like Luceti. So what’s life for you like in this whole new world?

6. Other - Don’t be limited by the above. This could be two weeks later or twenty years later! Of course, you can always time skip once you’ve established what you want to do at one time period.

Avatar: The Last Airbender | One Year Later

Upon coming here, it hadn't taken long for Estelle to find Zelos. They were both two people who stood out with their strange hair colors, which she eventually remedied by dying it a dark brown to fit in better. The two of them settled down in the Earth Kingdom, Ba Sing Se to be exact. They had come just after a war that had apparently lasted 100 years.

It was a delightful city, and Estelle adjusted rather well. As well as she could anyway. At first she would impulsively heal people who were injured in some way or another, which gained her both amazement and skepticism since she didn't use one of the traditional bending arts. Water was the healing element, and Estelle didn't know any water based artes. She opted to call it "lightbending", but to keep from drawing too much attention to herself, she decided to use her abilities only when necessary.

So here she was, a year later, and brewing tea in the house she and Zelos shared. Her brown hair held up with decorative Earth Kingdom pins, while she also wore traditional green and brown robes. A white fluffy cat also lounged about on the floor near Estelle's feet. She'd always wanted a pet, so she had insisted on getting one.

She was asleep, arms folded over an opened book and her chin nestled peacefully in an elbow. She looked so peaceful when she slept, although her days felt anything but. Buffy had spent the last month living a migratory existence as she also awkwardly relived the weeks after the final battle over Sunnydale. The Malnosso had vowed to send them home and -- indeed -- they'd done that much for Buffy Summers. But they'd also sent her nearly a year backwards in her timeline, with memories intact. And a hitch-hiker in tow.

Tonight, she and the straggling remnants of her gang were overnighting in what had once been a Council safehouse in the middle of rural Southern England. Giles had supplied her with books, although she hadn't the heart to fully explain to him what it was she hoped to research. Albert alone could be told the truth of it -- a fact which didn't help an already paranoid team feel any more goodwill towards the strange man than they absolutely had to. They were polite to him when Buffy was in the room, for the Slayer clearly cherished his company. But when she was off on one of her sad, thoughtful rambles? They were distant. Almost cold. If she realized this, Buffy said nothing to them about their behaviour. She knew Albert could look after himself.

She sighed in her sleep. Mumbled. Shifted. And -- as the little cottage's fire began to wane and die out -- she dreamed about a life she'd gotten used to in a distant dimension.

Fortunately, this town is used to refugees, and a lot of them are more weird than her and Leon. So finding a place to stay wasn't that hard. Really, the more pressing problem is that already--]

Hyrule - Two Months Later

When you spend long enough in one place, you learn to adapt. One thing Sokka had adapted to was that he stood out. So did Rapunzel, really. Neither of them had pointed ears. But darker skin didn't do wonders for fitting in with the people of Hyrule. But once he had defended the town from a few pesky octoroks, they had grown to decide he wasn't so bad. It wasn't much, but it was an improvement. The green tunic they had expected him to wear, not so much. He at least relented on a strange green hat, much as he didn't care for it.

That was how Sokka became part of the town guard. Sword and boomerang in hand, they thought of him as some sort of odd looking Hero of Time reborn. He had no idea what that meant, but it was better to be liked for being the wrong person than disliked for any other reason. He wasn't the only one working hard, but circumstances as they were, he and Rapunzel had been making do by setting themselves up at an old house together. With his patrol over, Sokka was finally back. Exhausted.

ooc: Headcanon time. I'm thinking this would be set between OoT and TWW. Ganon has yet to escape and cause everything to get flooded. So right now they're living in a town that is the precursor to Outset Island.

Avatar: the Last Airbender - six months later

Ororo had learned the hard way that the way her eyes glowed whenever she used her powers was a surefire way to garner hostile attention from the soldiers that hailed from a country that called themselves the Fire Nation. Apparently there was a hunt for what those in this land called the Avatar, someone of great power who was supposed to born to a people of dark skin and blue eyes. And even if people with extraordinary abilities over the elements were relatively commonplace here, she had to be careful even when summoning the barest of breezes, since those who had command over the wind were said to have been completely obliterated some thirty or so years ago...

So, life was difficult. Not terribly so, since if there were anyone used to a measure of discretion with her powers, it was Ororo. And, she did come into this world with someone who quite possibly could be the best companion she could ask for in this situation, all things considered.

The wings are gone. Her fingers no longer grasp alien wings, nor the barcode the Malnosso put behind her. It's the first thing she realizes as she looks at the tiny village beyond the vast expanse of grass, in front of the mountains that rose in the distance.

She still feels the plastic spot where her neural implants should be. Above where her other barcode remains.

The massive girl doesn't move from her spot, and barely revises her environment as she stares at the straw roofs beyond them. She doesn't look joyous. She looks pensive. They are left to begin anew on a world neither of them knew... but from now on, no one would dictate her fate.

Daisy has finally gotten her freedom. But a friend of hers had been pulled into a world neither of them had wanted.

She has her freedom. And she doesn't know what to do with it.

[It'd been a really, really hard few months for Rei. Coming to grips with the fact that she was stuck in this strange place with only Tsuzuki to keep her company was tough. The realization that she'd been completely cut off from the other Senshi...forever...had hit her like a freight train. How would Usagi win her battle? How could the Dark Kingdom be put down? It'd nearly broken her with just how...unfair it was. She'd been taken against her will and sent to the wrong place, and it was just...too much. If she had been alone, she probably wouldn't have made it. She wasn't even sure what'd happened to Phobos and Deimos, but they were simply gone, and while she could still draw on Mars...she didn't think she had the heart to ever done that uniform again.

But she hadn't been alone. Tsuzuki had done more exploring, he'd even found a place for them to stay and helped get them set up in a small home on Cinnabar Island. He'd even acquired two strange pets for them, animals called Pokemon. Rei had taken to the creature he'd called a Vulpix with considerable delight, and having the warm, fuzzy fox-creature around had been enormously helpful for her mood. The Pokemon had formed quite a bond with the teenager, as had Tsuzuki with his own.

Their relationship had grown into one of mutual respect, two spiritualists from separate worlds sent to another against their will, but with the help of these creatures they'd begun to put together a new life for themselves. Rei had taken up a job as a piano teacher and instructing people on calligraphy to pay for her share of the rent, though she never neglected her own lessons. The magic she'd learned in Luceti had stayed with her too, a lingering reminder of her time with her magical family. She'd kept her powers secret, though she had garnered a reputation for being quite odd, and having extraordinarily good skills at fortune telling.

But today was different...]
